The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum is pleased to announce it was recently awarded a three-year IMLS Inspire Grant for Small Museums for the Southeastern Textile Heritage Exhibit project.
This project will involve in-depth textile history research and the collection of personal stories and objects related to the region's textile heritage. This project will result in a physical exhibit to share an overview of the evolution of the textile industry in the southeast. The exhibit will include personal stories, photographs, oral history clips, artifacts, and more. It will also provide opportunities for people to add their stories to the museum’s archives and will become the foundation for future textile heritage programs.
In order to bring this project to life the museum is seeking community input for this exhibit. You can participate by completing a survey or by attending one of the community discussion groups. Meetings will be held Tuesday October 28 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm , Thursday November 20 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and Friday, December 5 from 10 am - noon at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum located at 306 Bradley St in Carrollton, Georgia.
