Dr. Marcia Bost will talk on “How Quilts Communicate” Jan. 24, 2 pm. She will use the techniques of visual rhetoric to explore color, pattern, narrative and embodiment as the ways that quilts reflect the voices of their makers. She will also talk about reproduction as a means of studying quilt communication and display her inspiration quilt and finished reproduction that was part of the American Quilt Study Group’s “Makers and Designers 1945-1979 Quilts of All Seasons.” Her quilt was not selected for the traveling exhibit, at the SQTM Jan 3-March 17. Dr. Bost’s academic research included her master’s thesis on the Visual Rhetoric of Quilts at Kennesaw State University.
